George Soros Gives China The Economic Thumbs Up
Financier extraordinaire Soros is no unfamiliar person to controversy, whether real or imagined by his scores of conservative critics. According to Foreign Policy, Soros’ latest bombshell regarding the superiority of China’s economy and govt to that of the United States will certainly raise the hairs on the back of Glenn Beck’s neck. Soros suggests that the world is in China’s care now
Soros suggests that China focuses on its own economic interest too much instead of spreading the wealth. The United States has lost some economic power here. It has gone to China. The U.S. financial decline is compared to the United Kingdom after World War II. This is what Soros does. The economic power being in China means China has to change. It needs to start looking outward, suggests Soros. It has a responsibility to help maintain the world economic order, Soros believes. The issues with currency are an excellent place to start. This is what China should consider.
Congressional problem with Gridlock
In The Globe and Mail, Soros argues that China has a “more vigorous economy” and a “better-functioning government” largely because Congress is so ineffective at making decisions and focusing upon key issues that would move the U.S. economy toward more solid ground. The us government is fairly bad about making things like national security significant in the U.S. with distractions like the filibuster. This is what Kay King of the Council on Foreign Relations said. King and Soros feel about the same. It is shown in their arguments:
When Congress fails to perform, national security suffers thanks to ill-considered policies, delayed or inadequate resources, and insufficient personnel. Without congressional guidance, allies and adversaries alike devalue U.S. policies because they lack the support of the American people that is provided through their representatives in Congress.
